Are you a real licensed Louisiana mover, not a broker?
Yes — A-Class Student Movers is a fully licensed and insured Louisiana moving company in Shreveport, LA. State HHG license and DOT/MC interstate authority on file. Owner Ben Whitfield walks every estimate himself.
How are your flat rates calculated?
Doug or Ben walks the inventory, measures access (stairs, elevator, parking distance), and prices to a binding flat figure that does not change unless you add inventory after the walkthrough. Two movers run $129/hr if you prefer hourly.
What does a dorm move cost at LSU-Shreveport or Centenary?
Our dorm-move special is $295 for a four-hour minimum with two movers and a 16-ft box truck. Greek-row and off-campus apartments price the same unless the inventory grows beyond a one-bedroom load.
Do you handle COI for property managers?
Yes. Lori emails certificates of insurance to Centenary off-campus complexes, LSU-Shreveport housing, BPCC apartment partners, and any Bossier or Shreveport property manager that requires one. Send the form when you book.
How do you handle the Red River bridge timing?
Beth dispatches Bossier-to-Shreveport runs against the Barksdale AFB commute pulse. Texas Street and Shreveport-Barksdale Hwy clog from 7-9am and 4-6pm; we route through I-220 or stage trucks early to avoid the meter ticking on bridge traffic.
What is your service area?
Local hourly work covers Caddo, Bossier, Webster, De Soto, and Red River Parishes. Long-distance authority covers the I-20 and I-49 corridors — Dallas, Little Rock, Memphis, Houston, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Tulsa, Lafayette, Monroe, Alexandria.
Do you provide packing supplies?
Yes — boxes, archive paper, custom wood crates, and humidity-rated sealed-bag wrap for the North Louisiana summer. Full-service pack-out is a separate line item; partial packing for the kitchen or wardrobe boxes is billed by the hour.
Can you store my things between leases?
Yes — the Greenwood Road bay off I-20 has climate-controlled short-term storage. Daily or monthly billing. Useful between dorm cycles, between leases, or while parents fly in to collect kids.
Do you move pianos and gun safes?
Uprights from $385. Baby grands quoted on site. Gun safes, antique armoires, and treadmills handled with walk-boards, e-track straps, and stair-climbing dollies. Doug McGregor estimates these in person rather than by phone.
What about same-day or last-minute moves?
Call before 10am Monday through Saturday and we usually have a chief who can roll a truck the same afternoon. Same-day is harder during the Aug 1-15 and mid-May rush windows because every crew is committed.
How do tips work?
Tips are appreciated, never expected, and never built into the figure. Cash on move day or added to the card payment — both fine. Customers typically tip $20-40 per mover for a half-day local job.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 72 hours before the booked window. Inside 72 hours, the $145 deposit is non-refundable but is held as credit for a rebooked date within 90 days.
Do you do commercial moves?
Yes — Shreveport small offices, Bossier City casino-corporate transfers, LSU-Shreveport / Louisiana Tech / Centenary campus office relocations, and Barksdale AFB family moves with COI and after-hours protocols.
How do I get a written quote today?
Use the free quote form, email [email protected], or call [bc_phone]. We respond inside one business hour during regular hours.
What Sets Us Apart

Why Shreveport-Bossier Households Stay With A-Class Student Movers

Licensing Closed Before Move Day

Fully licensed LA household-goods mover, DOT and MC authority filed for interstate work, $1M cargo coverage on every move — whether it’s a Centenary dorm walk-up or a Shreveport-to-Dallas haul on I-20, every legal stack is closed before Greg’s Westside crew rolls.

Dorm Stairs, Plaster Walls, Off-Campus Banisters

Hardwood in a Highland bungalow, painted plaster in a Centenary off-campus apartment, brick steps on a BPCC garden landing — floor runners, jamb pads, and banister shrink go on before a single tote gets carried. Same protocol at the pickup and at the drop, even at 5am on Aug 1.

Owner-Walked Estimates, Bossier Intake Line

Call mid-week and Ben Whitfield walks the estimate himself; call during dorm-cycle weeks and Lori Adams handles intake from the Bossier desk. Both Shreveport-Bossier movers at your door are W-2, background-checked, and trained inside the Greenwood Road bay — never leased, never temp, never sourced same-day.

One Written Shreveport-Bossier Price, No Curbside Surprises

The figure Doug sends from the Centenary-area estimator desk is the same figure on your final receipt — never an hourly clock dragging into Aug-1 sunset, never a fuel surcharge tacked on at the dorm dock, never a heavy-item line the office never mentioned.

Four Lines, A Signed Flat Rate, And Ben’s Countersign

Ben pulls the calendar against the Greater Shreveport hitch-shifts and writes the binding figure on Greenwood Rd letterhead, and the reply lands in your inbox — bilingual EN loads inside an hour, ES paperwork within two. No deposit, no chase calls if you walk.
