A-Class Student Movers is the local moving company Shreveport households call when they want a Greenwood Rd crew on the truck instead of a rented day-laborer team. Ben Whitfield founded the company in 2018 after seven years running warehouse ops at the Atlas Van Lines Shreveport branch, and every mover on the roster is W-2, background-checked, and trained in-house.
Caddo and Bossier coverage
We work both sides of the Red River at one flat $129 per hour rate. Downtown Shreveport high-rises, Highland shotguns, South Highlands brick, Bossier City ranch, Haughton new-builds, Benton lakefront — same crew, same trucks, same billing clock. Our dispatch board syncs to our Shreveport home base so we can repoint a truck mid-shift without a second trip charge.
August 1 dorm scheduling
Every summer the LSU-Shreveport and Centenary move-in waves overlap with regular household moves. We hold dedicated 4-hour dorm-move slots July 28 through August 4 at the $295 special, so a family move on August 2 doesn’t get bumped to the night shift.
Red River bridge timing
Louisiana Street, I-20, I-220, and the Shreveport-Barksdale Hwy bridge each have a different rush-hour personality. Our crew chiefs Greg Whitcomb (west side) and Phil Sanderson (Bossier) build the route at dispatch — you don’t pay for a truck stuck behind Barksdale AFB shift change.
What is not included
Local jobs do not include long-haul fuel, packing materials beyond loaner blankets, hoisting through windows, or piano work (see our piano page at $385 base). Specialty items get quoted separately so the hourly clock stays honest.
