A-Class Student Movers is the piano moving company Shreveport households trust with uprights, console pianos, baby grands, and the occasional church spinet. Pianos do not ride on the residential truck — they get a dedicated three-mover crew, a padded piano board, a four-wheel piano dolly, and the $385 base rate, no surprise equipment fee at the back end.

How piano days run

Greg Whitcomb on the west-side crew handles most piano dispatches. Three movers, dedicated rigging, the truck shows up empty so the piano doesn’t share a load. We pad-wrap every surface, strap the legs and pedal assembly, and roll on a board — not a furniture dolly that bends under the weight.

Stairs, ramps, and Centenary apartments

Most second-floor apartment uprights move with a stair-strap and a four-person crew. Baby grands break into case, lyre, pedal assembly, and legs. Standard procedure. We’ll flag the four-mover upcharge on the estimate if your route has two flights with a landing turn.

Out-of-state piano

Pianos travel weekly on our long-distance trucks to Dallas, Shreveport, Little Rock, and Memphis. The instrument rides in a pad-pen on the truck deck, strapped to the bulkhead, with no household goods stacked against it.

What is not included

The $385 piano base does not include tuning, regulation, or refinishing. We’ll hand off two Shreveport tuners we’ve worked with for years and recommend you wait two to three weeks for the soundboard to settle. Player-piano motor reassembly is included when it’s a factory unit, not aftermarket retrofit.

Service FAQ

Why is the piano base $385?
A piano move is a dedicated three-mover job with specialty gear that doesn’t live on a general residential truck. The $385 base covers the crew, the rigging, the board, and the dolly — not a hidden “equipment” line that lands on the final bill.
Can you move a baby grand to a second-floor Centenary apartment?
Yes. Baby grands break down into the case, lyre, pedal assembly, and legs. Two flights with a turn is doable with a four-mover crew — we’ll add the fourth body on the estimate.
What about a player-piano upright with the rolls and motor?
We move it as one unit and keep the player mechanism padded internally. The motor side gets extra strap on the dolly so the harmonic frame stays plumb on the ramp.
Do you move pianos out-of-state?
Yes — we send pianos on LD runs to Dallas, Houston, Memphis, and Little Rock weekly. The piano gets its own pad-pen on the truck and rides separately from household goods.
Do you tune after delivery?
We don’t tune in-house but we’ll hand off two local Shreveport tuners we’ve worked with for years. Plan on a tuning two to three weeks after delivery once the soundboard settles.
What Sets Us Apart

Why Shreveport-Bossier Households Stay With A-Class Student Movers

Licensing Closed Before Move Day

Fully licensed LA household-goods mover, DOT and MC authority filed for interstate work, $1M cargo coverage on every move — whether it’s a Centenary dorm walk-up or a Shreveport-to-Dallas haul on I-20, every legal stack is closed before Greg’s Westside crew rolls.

Dorm Stairs, Plaster Walls, Off-Campus Banisters

Hardwood in a Highland bungalow, painted plaster in a Centenary off-campus apartment, brick steps on a BPCC garden landing — floor runners, jamb pads, and banister shrink go on before a single tote gets carried. Same protocol at the pickup and at the drop, even at 5am on Aug 1.

Owner-Walked Estimates, Bossier Intake Line

Call mid-week and Ben Whitfield walks the estimate himself; call during dorm-cycle weeks and Lori Adams handles intake from the Bossier desk. Both Shreveport-Bossier movers at your door are W-2, background-checked, and trained inside the Greenwood Road bay — never leased, never temp, never sourced same-day.

One Written Shreveport-Bossier Price, No Curbside Surprises

The figure Doug sends from the Centenary-area estimator desk is the same figure on your final receipt — never an hourly clock dragging into Aug-1 sunset, never a fuel surcharge tacked on at the dorm dock, never a heavy-item line the office never mentioned.

Four Lines, A Signed Flat Rate, And Ben’s Countersign

Ben pulls the calendar against the Greater Shreveport hitch-shifts and writes the binding figure on Greenwood Rd letterhead, and the reply lands in your inbox — bilingual EN loads inside an hour, ES paperwork within two. No deposit, no chase calls if you walk.
